January's tuesday tags.

I am enjoying being part of http://tagtuesday.blogspot.com/ and have decided to store each month's efforts in a large sketch book I was given as it will hold five tags for a long month.
January's tags

I sprayed the page with blue ink over a very large snowflake stencil. I want to add the word January and descriptions of each tag but do not have the stamps in the font that I want, so will add those later. I didn't want to glue them in incase I wanted to display them later individually. So I brought some discounted Christmas card hangers which comprised of a strip of velcro with little sticky pieces for the backs of the cards.
sticky tags!
They now peel out very nicely with no damage. As lots of us make tags I thought this might interest some of you? Happy crafting and keep warm! x

Sunday Stamper No:189. My Eyes Adored You.

I recently watched again one my fav. movies, 'The Bridges of Madison County.' I wondered then if I could put together something for Hel's challenge  inspired by the film. Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood certainly acted as if their eyes adored each other!

Sunday stamper, My Eyes Adored You.
After watching the film I decided to try to put  pieces together that a lover might have kept in a treasure box. The background paper was in my stash and I over stamped it with paperbag studio stamps and words from Tim's collection which I faded out with picket fence stain. Then an image of a woman from paperbag studio's that reminded me of an old photograph of my Mum. The piece of letter in front of blue ribbon was from my stash and I crumpled and aged it with distress ink. The pressed flower was in my garden last year and the locket was a cheapie that I brought in a sale 'just incase I needed it'. The photographs were from a cd of vintage ephemera that I recently became re-aquainted with that seemed to fit the bill! If there is anyone out there who has never seen the film, (!)  grab a box of tissues and enjoy. x

Sunday Stampers 188 - After the Gold Rush.

Here is my offering for this weeks Sunday Stamper. I thought I would try and do a card so that I can build up a collection for important dates and hopefully this will fit any celebration!

sunday stamper - Gold
I made a resolution to try and use up some of my paper stash this year and so I collected yellow and gold papers for the background which I stamped with some background stamps in walnut stain DI and edged with the same. The Tim Holtz words were stamped on glossy card and embossed then mounted on gold card with an extra gold heart. The wings are rusty metal dabbed with gold acrylic. I took some glassine paper and used gold and yellow ink, then crushed it and swiped with wild honey and then vagabonded with the tattered floral die with some spare yellow paper to make the flower. Gold ribbon and a bird punched from brown card with Martha Stewart's punch and some bling additivies from my stash to complete my offering. Have a happy week everyone.

My Jenni Wrens Birthday!

I am working away on my Tag Tuesday challenges and for the Sunday stamper which is a work in progress, so thought I would post No 2's birthday card. I am blessed with three beautiful daughters who are the joy of my life. No 2 is married to my 'little prince' (so nice to have a son in law and two sons out law). When she was a little girl she was a blond haired green eyed minx (in the nicest possible way) who could melt me when she looked at me with her Dad's eyes! So I dusted down one of my first Tim Holtz stamps and made this:
No 2's Birthday!
She liked it anyway! Late start at work today, so I am retiring to the craft room to work on my Sunday Stamper challenge. I have decided to post all the months Tuesday Tags together as they are on a theme, but you can fly over here to see everyones tags each week. Have a good day one and all!

Sunday Stamper 187 - Time of your life.

I am determined to be more organised and creative this year, so here is my first Sunday Stamper admission for 2012!
sunday stampers - time

I have made a card for my dear friend Sally, which is another thing I am determined to do. Last year we sent each other something every month but December came and we both got a little overwhelmed. I intend to resume normal service as from today! Enough waffling, the card was stamped with a background of clocks with white acrylic and then distress inks mustard seed, dried marigold and wild honey were applied with walnut stain around the edge. I love the batik look this gives! The text was chopped up and rearranged and the hand and eternal time circle stamped in balck archival and stained with old paper DI.The clock is from Tim's stamps and given the same treatment and the metal clock and spinner are from the ideology range adhered with glossy accents. I thought the piece of stamped train timetable was apt because of the 'On Sundays' heading! Forgive me folks, but the stamps with the exception of Tim's were from an unmounted sheet I brought years ago and I cannot remember the maker.
On to the next thing now, am on a roll as mojo went away with Hel's mojo for a holiday and is now back in residence! Have a happy week one and all.

Tag Tuesday

I have joined the Tag Tuesday challenge! How could I resist, hosted by the very talented Carlolyn Saxby of http://love-stitching-red.blogspot.com/ and  making a different tag each week, my challenge to myself will be to use different mediums, but I have started the first one using stamps and paper. The theme is Snow:snow tag
I wanted it to look like an old photograph, so I used pumice stone and old paper distress ink for the sky and stamped the tree in walnut stain using two different tree stamps so that I could build up the branches. The snowflakes were clear embossed across the landscape and the snow in the foregrouned was snow cap dabber for texture with shades of pumice stone underneath. The die cut snowflakes were coloured with expresso ink stain and then edged with picket fence stickles. The rusty metal snowflake was in my stash and the little figures were inked in with promarkers.  Do have a peep at the challenge, there are some lovely tags on it!

Didn't quite make it!

Happy New Year everyone! I tried really hard but couldn't quite finish Tim's tags, did 10 and ran out of time!  So here, in no particular order are the ten I have managed.

tims tags 2011

I shall carry on and do the other two, but oh , I had such high hopes. A challenge or two, finish the tags, make a calender page for January in my journal, produce something original and creative! To be sure I am not clear where this week went and now I am back to work. Perhaps I shall manage more when I am juggling my hours? I hope you all had a splendid time, for me it is back to the diet and a year full of good intentions.
I shall keep my craft room tidy!
I shall produce something every week.
I shall not eat chocolate as if it is going out of fashion.
I shall do new challenges.

Heavens, I need something more exciting than that.

Here goes:
I shall live everyday to the full.
I shall try and make a difference every day, however small it is.
I shall find something magic in everyday of the year.
Whenever it rains I will jump in the puddles!

Happy crafting in 2012 to everyone xx
